Help Support the Health of Newborns: Become a Milk Donor Through Cody Regional
Health's Milk Depot
Cody Regional Health is proud to partner with the
Mother’s Milk Bank to serve as a Milk Depot, giving nursing mothers the opportunity to donate
excess breast milk to help vulnerable infants. By donating, you provide
life-saving nutrients and protection to newborns in need, including premature
and hospitalized infants.
Why Breast Milk Donation Matters
Breast milk is uniquely suited to protect and nourish infants, offering
benefits that formula cannot provide. It supports cognitive and behavioral
development, strengthens the immune system, and reduces the risk of complications
such as respiratory infections and necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC), a
life-threatening condition for premature babies.
Unfortunately, many mothers of NICU babies are unable to produce enough
milk to meet their baby’s needs. Your donation can make a tremendous
difference for these families, giving fragile infants a stronger start in life.
How to Become a Donor
If you have an oversupply of breast milk, you may qualify to donate through
our Milk Depot. Follow these simple steps:
Complete Screening Forms and Bloodwork: If you pass the pre-screening, you’ll complete an online form and
have a small blood sample drawn. This can be done at no cost to you through
the Milk Depot at Cody Regional Health.
Drop Off Milk at Our Depot: Once approved, you’ll receive collection containers and can drop
off your milk donations at Cody Regional Health’s Milk Depot. We’ll
ship your donation to the Mother’s Milk Bank, where it will be pasteurized
and distributed to infants in need.
Donor Requirements To donate breast milk, mothers must:
Be in good health.
Be non-smokers and free from nicotine or marijuana use.
Pass a blood screening.
Follow approved medication guidelines (per the Human Milk Banking Association
of North America).
Limit alcohol and caffeine consumption.
Commit to donating a minimum of 150 ounces.
